Guerreros Judo began with one young man’s search for purpose—and the life-changing power of judo.
As a teenager, our founding sensei, Frank Sanchez Sr., was introduced to judo by his friend Craig Saito. Despite being new, small, and one of the only Mexican kids in a room full of seasoned Japanese judokas, Frank found something deeper than sport—he found direction.
Judo taught him how to fall and rise, to lose with humility and come back stronger. It gave him confidence, resilience, and a code to live by: discipline, courage, integrity.
By 14, he was already teaching younger kids, drawn as much to the community as the craft. After a break to help raise his late sister’s children, Frank returned in his 20s, teaching kids in the local park—a small act that sparked something bigger.
Guerreros Judo was born—not from medals or ego, but from values.
Respect. Resilience. Discipline. Humility. Family. Volunteerism. Fearless growth.
Today, Guerreros is more than a dojo—it’s a legacy. A space where youth of all backgrounds learn to fight with honor, lose with grace, and rise stronger. It’s a place where parents train alongside their kids, where diversity is celebrated, and every fall is a lesson in rising.
We believe judo builds character and community. As Sensei Frank Sr. says, “Life is a struggle—but judo teaches you how to keep going.”
From day one, it was never just about winning. It was about becoming. And Guerreros Judo continues to help generations do just that.
